Tip of the Day – which was post on a day and writen with the tip of an ink pen so it qualifies.
45 Master Characters by Victoria Lynn Schmidt. Mythic Models for Creating Original Characters.
OMGosh where have you been my whole writing career. The book is a bit like Heroes & Heroines but with great concrete examples. This book is for your toolbox. Pull it out, use what you need, carefully put it back so you know where it is to use again. Anyone else read it?
I have not read that book, but I do have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Master-Plots-How-Build-Them/dp/0898795958 20 Master Plots and how to build them, by Ronald Tobias.
Just like you say, take it off the shelf, read it, get what you need and put it right back. I’ll have to look for 45 Master Characters now, for my tool shelf.
Yeah, I added that to my buying list. The best section of the 45 Master Characters is the gender bending section on Hero’s Journey. In three pages it explains what is different about men and women characters and important POV tips for each gender. Good stuff.
Darn you for making me order that book to find out what makes us different!
